  • All students have to wear their ID to gain entrance to the cafeteria. If you are not wearing your ID you will need wait and check in.
  • Have you been wondering where your PSAT Scores are from our testing day in the Fall?  Well wonder no longer!  PSAT Scores are here and available to students.  Please look at the schedule:
  • Tuesday 2/6 & Wednesday 2/7 - Junior PSAT Scores available in the Student Services office during lunch periods
  • Thursday 2/8 & Friday 2/9 - Sophomore PSAT Scores available in the Student Services office during lunch periods
  • Freshmen PSAT scores are with your individual counselor.  If you didn't get your score report during your course selection meeting stop by your counselor's office the week of February 20th to get your score report.
  • Today’s Black History Month fact: Have you ever heard the term “the real McCoy?”  Elijah McCoy was famous for earning over 50 patents for inventions, including the steam engine oil lubricator, the folding ironing board, and one of the earliest lawn sprinklers.  He is credited by author Booker T Washington as one of the most important African-Americans of early American history.
  • Did you know that on average, you smile about 20 times a day? Today, I want you to make that number a little higher, and spread the kindness for the final day of Start With Hello Week, because, it's as simple as starting with hello to make a positive impact on somebody's day! Let's keep up the Duke pride, and the good vibes today, and everyday! 
  • Applications for Student Summer Employment for Athletic Camps  are now available at the Athletic Office, see Ms. Wilkie if interested.  Applications are due back to Ms. Wilkie by March 20th.
  • Calling all creative minds! Mirrors is hosting a writers workshop on February 12th. It is open to anyone who is looking to get feedback on their work as well as those looking for inspiration. This is a student run event that will provide specific activities tailored your area of interest. All are welcome to come join us in A337 after school monday the 12th. Can’t wait to see you there!
  • Do you have what it takes to "school" a teacher in sports?  Here is your chance!  Any seniors who are not currently in a sport at York are invited to play in our annual Senior/Staff Volleyball game on Wednesday, February 21st at 6:30 pm in the Campbell gym.  You will have the chance to test your athletic ability against a team of York staff members who have handily defeated the student team over many, many years.  Please sign up on thisisyork.org and come try to break the York staff winning streak!  THE DEADLINE FOR SIGNING UP IS MONDAY 2/12.
  • Congratulations to the York Speech Team. They advanced 13 events to Sectional and they are the2018 Regional Champions. The Performance in the Round finished 2nd and advanced to Sectionals as well. 
  • All students will receive an email about voting for the York Citizenship Award this week.  You are being asked to nominate the boy and girl from your class who are the best examples of leadership, integrity and friendliness.  Please submit the survey by next Friday, February 16th.
  • Interested in service to your school community and developing your skills as a leader?  Freshman Mentoring may be JUST what you need in your life!  Calling all EXTROVERTS, INTROVERTS, ARTISTS, ATHLETES and EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN! The Mentoring program seeks a diverse group of applicants who collectively represent all that York has to offer.  Consider making the commitment to applying.  Act NOW: Applications are being accepted through the end of the day, Monday February 12th.  Go to the Counseling webpage for the online application.Email Mrs. Tucker with questions"
  • Congratulations to FCCLA students who competed in the regional competitions at College of DuPage on January 26th and February 2nd. Students developed presentations, demonstrated skills, and showcased knowledge in areas such as nutrition, fashion, food production and design, children's literature, interior design, and professional careers. Congrats to students who received first second and third place awards based on their overall competition score. Students with the most exemplary project/performance in their competition category were awarded the “most outstanding” distinction by the judges. All students have qualified to move on to the state level competitions in April in Springfield, IL. Congratulations students!
  • Hey International club members! Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 14th right after-school in room A390. We'll be discussing t-shirt ideas and starting to design our displays for International Fest. Bring in whatever materials you want to use for your display! New members are always welcome.   • VDay is coming . . . Valentines Day? No … Voter Registration Day? NO  . . . V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.  Will you join EMPOWER on Wednesday andwear all back in solidarity with the #metoo movement? And sport a red letter V so we can work together to end violence against women worldwide? Love, EMPOWER
  • The York Hockey Club starts playoffs this weekend. The JV team begins conference playoffs Friday night.  Playing in the state's top conference, the Dukes take on the Glenbrook South Titans at 8:55p.m. at Addison Ice.  This is the start of a best-of-three series. The Varsity team is ranked 12th in state, and begins the state tournament on Saturday.  The Dukes face the Brother Rice Crusaders Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Addison Ice.  This is a single-elimination tournament, and with a win York will advance to the Sweet 16.  It's also the seniors' last home game.  The Varsity has won 3 of the last 4 and have great momentum coming into the state tourney. Come on out to Addison Ice Friday and Saturday nights to see some exciting playoff hockey.
  • Interact Club is having a Valentine's candy sale in the commons on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.  You can buy a valentine and  candy conversation hearts for $1.  Thank you for supporting Interact Charities.
