Daily Announcements


  • Students who are tardy and use the SWIPE attendance system , but do not report to their class ARE marked unexcused absent. Students have to report to their assigned class after getting the SWIPE pass.
  • Interested in joining the Girls Track and Field team? All athletes not in a winter sport should come to a brief informational meeting on Thursday, November 15th at 3:30 in the cafeteria. You will get some general team information, calendar of events, and pre-season training information. If you cannot make the meeting but are interested in joining, please email Coach Kilrea (Kill-ray) at kkilrea@elmhurst205.org. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you!
  • Hello, York students! Please contribute to a gift card drive with cards to places like Walmart, Target, Chipotle, Portillo's, Kohls, or other food or clothing stores to help members of the District 205 community! Boxes will be located in the CCRC and the Learning Commons' circulation desk, and all proceeds will go to people in need throughout District 205. Thank you so much for your support! 
  • Attention all students and staff:  Did you know that  all of the food collected during York's food drive goes directly to United Community Concerns, an agency that serves hungry District 205 students and their families?  Do your part to help help our own York community by donating canned and other perishable food items during the Food Drive that starts this week and runs until Monday, November 19th.  Most of your teachers will be collecting food in their classrooms, so bring it to any class.  
  • If you're a fan of Fine Arts Week, come have dinner at the Chipotle on St. Charles Rd and Route 83 on Saturday, November 17th from 4pm-8pm.  One third of the proceeds will be donated to Fine Arts Week. All you have to do is buy a meal at the Chipotle on Route 83 this Saturday between 4pm and 8pm and tell the cashier you're there to support York's Fine Arts Week.   • What’s up Duke fam?! Have you and your friends been looking for a cool place to hang out Friday night with live music, coffee, games, and snacks? Then look no further for these oddly specific requirements and come to Java Live on Friday November 16th. Doors open at 6:30 and performances start at 7. The cost is a $4 donation at the door. All snacks and drinks are 1 dollar each. Any type of appropriate performance is welcomed. See you there!
  • Please join Ms. Munn and Finetix Fitness to collect hats for the homeless. If you have a gently used hat or new winter hat that is not being used for children or adults please place in the box outside the yoga room S132 labeled hats for homeless. We will be collecting these the entire month.
  • It’s time for the York Holiday Apparel Sale! The Athletic Boosters have a fabulous collection of York swag, just in time for holiday gift giving.   • The York Hockey Club would like to thank everyone that came out & supported Spirit Night & Stick It to Cancer last Friday! Record numbers of fans in attendance, standing room only (if that!!) and we raised the highest dollar amount in Club history for this event!! We couldn’t have done it without you!

  • This week, Friday Night Ice match up has Varsity v New Trier Blue & JV v Glenbrook South! Come out and catch some great hockey!! Puck drops @ 7:10 & 9pm!
  • Attention All JUNIOR and SENIOR NHS members.  There is a mandatory NHS meeting for all current members...yes, that includes our newest inductees from last week's awesome Induction Ceremony!  Our meeting is Friday, November 16th at 7:00am in the York Auditorium.  Questions?  Contact Mr. Sharko or Mrs. Weber.
  • Why did the turkey cross the road twice? To prove he wasn’t chicken!  Dukes, get ready to vote on the legs of our senior varsity basketball players! That’s right, it’s turkey time. Go to thissyork.org to vote on which basketball player has the leg that looks most like a turkey. Voting closes tomorrow so don’t forget! Gobble, Gobble dukes!
  • Are you a leader?  Do you want to BECOME a leader?  The counseling department is seeking all applicants for the 2019-2020 Freshmen Mentoring program!  Calling all artists, athletes, scholars, and in-betweens!!! 
  • Apply TODAY on the counseling department web site!  The application deadline is Friday, February 1st, 2019 with interviews occurring after that.  All are encouraged to apply.  Questions?  Ask your counselor!
  • York JV Poms team took 5th place out 14 this past weekend at Wheaton North. Please come out to support them this weekend on Saturday, November 17 at Fremd High School!
  • Key Club is collecting any unused and unopened hygiene products such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, mouthwash, soap, laundry supplies, hand sanitizer, combs/brushes. There will be a box in A290 for the donations. Thank you!
  • The dance clinic for the spring musical, Bright Star, will be Monday, November 19th. Come and learn the dance for auditions in December, as well as enjoy pizza and fun! The men's dance will be taught at 6:30 in the black box, followed by pizza and women can come early for pizza and dance at 7:45. Advanced dancers should stay for the 8:45 call. Come and have some fun, learn the dance, and eat lots of pizza!!! Email Mrs M with any questions.
