2019 Summer School Driver Education Registration and Information

York will offer 1 section of summer school driver education.  This course will run during session 1 only, you must be 15 prior to the start of class and you must be able to attend all days - no exceptions!  For complete class details please see the link below.


Registration will start on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 at 7:30 am at Door 3 on a first come basis.

Social Learning Targets: ISBE Standards 21, 24
  • I actively engage in Physical Education class or

    1. I participate at a high level of activity during Physical Education class

  • I am accepting and respectful of diversity within the class.


Fitness Learning Targets: ISBE Standards 19, 20, 23

  • I can achieve my healthy zone for health related fitness components.

  • I can achieve and maintain my THR zone for a minimum of 20 minutes.

  • I am able to identify the differences between health and skill related fitness components.


Lifestyle/Life-Long Learning Targets: ISBE Standards 21, 22, 24

  • I can model teamwork, through sportsmanship and fair play, to reinforce interpersonal skills to be implemented in daily life.

  • I understand the importance of lifelong health & physical fitness and the benefits of participation in a variety of activities competitively, recreationally, and within the community.


Movement/Motor Skills Learning Targets: ISBE Standards 19, 23

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!!  The entire PE/Health/Driver Education staff is excited and dedicated to working with your children to promote life-long healthy habits with an emphasis on life-long activity.  As the Department Chair of Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education I am committed to engaging your children in meaningful activities and lessons while offering a strong curriculum with a variety of choices.

As a department we strongly believe daily physical education for our students is one of the most meaningful parts of their day physically, socially, and mentally.  Students at York will be provided with a foundation for making informed decisions that will enable them to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle for years to come.  As a department we are committed to providing outside fitness and health opportunities for the students and community to promote daily fitness and healthy habits.  We want students to graduate from York with knowledge on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a desire to be physically active.

PE Make-Up Opportunities

Below are the PE Make-Up Opportunities:

Power Club Participation - 6:30 am in the fitness center

Yoga Club Participation - 3:15 pm - 4:10 pm in S132 on Wednesdays

30 minutes of cardio in the fitness center after school from 3:30 pm - 4:15 pm

Article Review Assignment (Must be completed within 2 weeks of excused absence)

Community Group Fitness Participation Reflection (Only can be done twice a semester)
