Grades10-12 / 1 Semester Course – 1.0 credit

This course examines current thinking about the causes of crime and delinquency, as well as methods of punishments and correction. The student will study topics such as aggression, influence of the media, role of the family, urban conditions, types of crime, gun control, gangs and prisons.

Rationale: Students interested in topics related to crime and punishment and/or those interested in a career in law enforcement, social work or the legal profession would find this a good introduction to one of the most important issues in American society.
